This morning we head up to the main square to see the parade that was scheduled at 10 am. But they were actually setting up for the adults Triathlon that was postponed until today. I wondered as the weather was quite scary near the sea yesterday.
So no worries. Deb and I made a plan to check out the athletes coming up.
Now the curious thing is that this particular Triathlon had no swimming in it? The race began at the Port, sea level, and they ran at least to the Town Clock and beyond. No bikes either?
The stairs they climbed....yikes.....I would have been walking it 30 seconds into the race.
They are brutal.
"Jedan, dva, tri..........idi!"
(One, two, three....GO)
....and up they went....
....keep going.....
....you can do it.....
.....you got this....
....yikes......you can make it.....
High 5 always motivates and encourages athletes.....
.....and they keep going up....
Great job!
After the Triathlon, we jumped back on the bus to Baosici. Apparently traditional food and drinks, and homemade items from the area, are on display and judging, in that village.
We needed to find the building asap....'cause the storm across the sea is coming!
More of those soft spicy cookies to purchase...which I did from this lovely woman.
Traditional dancing was enjoyed by all. The music was great. Everyone was dancing.
More of this good stuff. Fish sandwich.
Also available was a local specialty that the women were being judged on...cuddle fish and rice. Cuddle fish is like octopus which explains the dark colour which is octopus ink. Usually salty...I loved it. The young woman who put our plates together was explaining it to us in great English.
The items that I purchased from her was Candied Orange Rinds. So tasty. She shared with me that some of the orange trees produce an orange that is not edible. You make jams or this candied delight. Both delicious.
The jam I bought from her was an Orange Kiwi. Both grow everywhere here.
A wee kitten showing off his athletic ability. Hanging upside down.
I think he is saying good-bye for now.
