I seriously thought we would only get TV in Herceg Novi that was in Serbian language so I brought a few books to read. Happens that there are probably 15 channels in English that we have been watching.
Even with that I did manage to finish my Anthony Bourdain book. I was quite curious about it and did enjoy it.
I learned two very important things from the book.
1. Do not eat fish on Mondays in any restaurant. He says why....and trust me I will never again eat fish on Mondays.
2. One.....one sharp knife is all you need in your kitchen. As a traveller I can say one of my pet peeves is that nowhere we have ever been has one sharp knife. We usually purchase and use it and leave it. He says you become a better cook with that one item.....and it's true. Confidence, skill and easy of the task of cooking.
I would recommend the book for anyone who has worked or does work in the food industry. For five years I worked at Muskoka Sands Inn as a waitress and I do get his story...the good...the bad...and the ugly.
One wee warning....lots of bad words. Just saying.
