A glorious day to take a scenic ride from San Marco vaporetto station to Piazzale Roma. Takes about 30 minutes...and cost 7.50 euros each. Gives our wee feet a rest.
Well worth it.

The Accademia Bridge. Originally built in 1854, then destroyed under Mussolini rule in 1932.
A replacement that was to be temporary was there for half a century.
Today the bridge is a exact replica of the original wooden bridge. (Below)
Water taxis that look like Muskoka Wooden Boats.
Gorgeous.
Life goes on even in a city built on water. Ambulances transporting patients.
In 1495 a French ambassador described the Grand Canal as "the most beautiful street in the world."
The smaller canals that venture out from the Grand Canal are so interesting and beautiful.
The Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four bridges that span the Grand Canal.
One of the most famous and photographed bridges in the world.

One quick note: Don't eat a sandwich out in the open near St. Mark's Square. When we were there a huge seagull swooped down, hit me from behind, with a couple of his friends, grabbed my sandwich right out of my hand and entirely scared the crap out of me.
Just sayin'
Scalzi Bridge is named after the Chiesa degli Scalzi (Church of the Barefoot Monks).
First built in 1858, then replaced in the 1930's.
It is a stone arched bridge. This photo does not do justice to how beautiful it is.
Constitution Bridge or more commonly known as Calatrava Bridge. Built in 2008.
This bridge links Piazzale Roma (where buses shuttle to and from the airport) and the train station.
The Constitution Bridge cost 10 million dollars to build.
It has the highest traffic of pedestrians of all the bridges.
The quiet canals off the Grand Canal. Beautiful to wander down and explore.

Deb standing just outside the Train Station.....what a marvellous day again.
