Last But Not Least, Monterosso al Mare, Italy

Back on the train heading north to the last Cinque Terre village of Monterosso.

Monterosso has an incredible beach.....gorgeous to say the least.
It is much more of a tourist destination for sun worshippers and beach lovers than the rest.
Fifteen hundred people live here but it is completely overrun with tourists in the summer.

Having a nap, on the beach, amongst the boulders, Monterosso style.

Spring blooming everywhere.

Awwwwwww.......sigh......

Hey....I know those gals.

The village is divided in two, the Old Town and the New Town, connected by a long tunnel.  We are heading that way.....

I call this the 'Horn of Plenty' because of it's shape.  It is a mammoth sized rock formation on the beach.  So cool.

These villages had to be fortified with walls and towers as they were the victims of pirate attacks over the centuries.

A Nazi hide used during WWII when Germany was allied with Italy.

Besides tourism, this village is known for it's lemon trees, white wine, grapes, and olives.

Monterosso.....

Lunch time.....Seafood here I come.

Pour olive oil and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl......dip your crusty bread....'That's Italian.'

Serving us a Seafood Risotto.....chocked full of yummy sea creatures.

Feeling very, very, very happy right at this moment.
Yummy.

Incredible strolling through the very old architecture.

The colourful streets of the village are a great place to wander and shop.  I think it has some of the best shopping in the five villages.  Many places to eat at a reasonable price as well.

Neat restaurant built in this arched ancient wall.

We are pretty pooped but very happy about our journey to the Cinque Terre park with Trudi and Gail.  It's our third visit there over the years.
The weather was incredible.  The food, the company, our hotel, the people...the gelato....everything was amazing.

Good-bye until we visit again.
