Villa del Principe in Genoa

The Villa del Principe is the home of the only Prince of Genoa, Andrea Doria.
The photos are of the gardens before we even got into the palace.  An incredible site to visit and stroll through.

Sculptures and a garden decorate the outside of this quiet space in the city.

I wasn't allowed to go closer and obviously he has been told not to cross the chain gate?
We've got a wee problem.

An entire wall of oranges on vines......massive.

Incredible and well preserved mosaic tiles on the entrance ramp.

Andrea Doria was the Prince of Melfi.  He was born in 1466 and died in1560.
This palace was built in 1529.

These are little cherubs sculptures decorating one of the rooms.

Two gigantic tapestries that are referred to as the tapestries of Alexander The Great.
They were a gift from Charles V to Andrea Doria.

A Chapel in the palace so brightly decorated.  Really quite beautiful.

No disrespect meant, but I thought this sculpture looked like Tyrion Lannister from Game Of Thrones?

A wee excerpt of a floor to ceiling tapestry has this two faced man on it?
I thought it was quite interesting.

This was such an original design for a fireplace.  The mantle is approximately at my head height?

We end our tour of the palace in the vast Golden Gallery.
Which you can see we have all to ourselves.
Let's throw a party!!!
