Architecture in Genoa; The Many Cultural Influences

Genoa city is filled with Medieval, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture.

A few photos of the different influences in the architecture in Genoa, Italy.
Some, like the arches here near the market have a Turkish or Moroccan look.

They have been intruded by Milan, the French and the Spanish.
The Greek were also here in the early development of this city.

The colours and windy streets are all Italian.

The arches here are very Romanesque.
But the sidewalk is mosaic?  Turkish...Spanish...African?

Reminds me of Istanbul here.
Back in the 9th Century, Genoa was constantly being raided by Muslims from North Africa.

Italian for sure.

There is a cafe in these arches near the Port.  They don't really look that sturdy....but it is packed in there.

And of course these incredibly decorated buildings.  Reminds me of Vienna.
Very interesting.
