Igalo, Montenegro Our Neighboring Towns

There is actually no division between our lovely town of Herceg Novi and the villages on both sides of it.  To our right, or north of us, is a village of less than 4,000 people called Igalo.
Yugoslava former leader Tito actually had a summer home here.

It is almost a two kilometer walk along the promenade from our Port.
The results of the rainy days have been that everything is so green and lush.

The Little Fiesta of Orange is one of the first festivals in this area leading to the BIG 50th Mimosa Festival beginning in the next few days.  Gates, doors are decorated with greenery and oranges all over.  The orange is consider the winter fruit in this area.  I have to tell you they are THE most juicy and delicious oranges I have ever had.  The trees are filled with them....everywhere.  I want to reach out and pick them....but I can't.

If we kept walking around the bay we would come to the village of Njivice, which you can get a wee peek at from the beach in Igalo.  It is somewhat isolated but there are buses from Herceg Novi that can get us there.  Apparently a tourist town renown for their incredible beaches.

A view of Herceg Novi from Igalo.  We stopped for a drink and pizza.

This pizza is Mexicana....and those peppers, delicious and warm to the taste.

Flowers blooming....it's January?

This photo explains why our town is a village of stairs....built on a serious mountain.
I actually love this photo below.

A quiet moment with your kitten.

Keeping guard of his owners while they enjoy a drink along the sea.

Heading back.  The promenade is filled, as the weather is getting warmer, with bikers, roller bladers, walkers, scooters, dog walkers and everyone else.  Some meanderers and others on a mission.  Doesn't matter....they are all enjoying the fresh air, sea views and socializing along the way.
Slowing life down....and relaxing.

With the sea behind me...the view is brilliant towards the mountains.

Ok....I have to warn you...Speedo Alert!!!!!  I am serious.  This photo is as graphic as it gets.  The water must be cold....yikes.

To live in a village with more than a millennia of history.....and to sit on that history and look out over the sea with wonder.  Wow.
Great day.......feeling happy and grateful.
