I am not sure who I have told this story to....but many people ask 'how did you decide on Montenegro for the winter?' True be told....it is about dollars and cents.
Looking on Airbnb I realized quite quickly that the time of year we wanted to travel was expensive in Europe. Even our beautiful Cadiz, Spain apartment was not only a wee bit to pricey but also not available.
So, on the website I used the filters and put in our budget, our dates, what kind of accommodation and then I chose 'anywhere' for the location.
Thus came up, Montenegro.
We are so pleased with our choice even though we didn't quite know what to expect.
Our host Flavia, encouraged us to use the roof top terrace any time we would like and so on this cold January day....up the spiral staircase we go to check it out.
Unbelievable. The sun was so warm on us.....it was marvellous. I hadn't been out for almost a week (flu bug) and it was so lovely to enjoy a hot tea with ginger, lemon and honey, soaking up the Vitamin D above us. Heaven.
This terrace is attached to a private, one bedroom apartment on the top floor. Next time...we are so totally going to book this one. She had only recently renovated it and wasn't renting it out until now.
Squeaky the cat hung out with Debbie on the terrace....getting some loving.
There is no number on our apartment for us to locate it? But it is easey peasey as the incredible cascading, lush, green vines are the best on the stair pathway.
My adorable little European Robin. These little guys migrate to warmer, southern Europe for the winter from Britain.
I'm starting to feel better.....off we go down the path.....to the sea.
