Politics and History of Montenegro.

Even though this country appears at peace, this wall has been spray painted with 'Kosovo is Serbia!'

I have read the history of Montenegro and it is very complicated with so many different countries and cultures of people occupying this former Yugoslavia.  So much so, that I can't even summarize it to understand it.  But what I do know.....is it was brutal.  It would be easier if you read the history of it yourself to have a better understanding.

But this I do know....to the ethnic Serbian people, the independent country of Kosovo (the last of seven independent countries that make up what was the former Yugoslavia) is the meca for their culture.  Their homeland.  "The cradle of the culture and state of the Serbian people." 

But the Albanians (who also reside in Kosovo) believe they have historic claims which predates the Serbians arrival in Kosovo.  In fact 93% of the inhabitants of Kosovo are Albanians.

Unfortunately, this sign reminds us that there are those Serbians who will not stop the fight until they get their Kosovo back.
